What are Keto Fat Bombs?

If you’re wondering why they’re called “keto fat bombs,” it’s because they provide healthy fat “bombs” to keep both of you fully keto compliant and satisfied until your next meal. They are convenient, high-fat, low-carb, low-protein snacks that you can take anywhere.

Ingredients

This easy dessert consists of only 7 common ingredients. They have bake various fat sources and flavor enhancers such as chocolate and vanilla.

  • Crispy Peanut Butter: it can also be referred to as chunky peanut butter, but creamy peanut butter will work too
  • Unshelled hemp seeds: adds another source of fat
  • Unrefined coconut oil: use coconut oil at room temperature
  • Heavy cream: another source of healthy fat and helps to achieve a smooth texture
  • Cocoa powder: this will ensure an intense chocolate flavor; unsweetened cocoa powder works too
  • Vanilla extract: to enhance the taste
  • Stevia raw: used to sweeten fat bombs; a low carb sugar substitute like monk fruit sweetener may work, but with a few modifications (see directions)
  • Shredded coconut flakes: this is optional, but it’s fun to roll the balls in coconut flakes

Step by step instructions

It’s incredibly easy! All you need is a bowl, a tray with parchment paper and a freezer or fridge.

Step 1: In a large bowl, mix peanut butter, cocoa powder, and hemp seeds.

Step 2: Add coconut oil and mix until it becomes a paste. Then add the cream, vanilla and stevia and mix until it becomes a paste again.

Step 3: Use your hands to form 12 balls of the paste.

Tip: if the paste is too thin to roll out (as in the picture above), put it in the fridge for 30 minutes before rolling it out to get the right consistency (as in the picture below).

Step 4: Roll the balls in desiccated coconut (coconut is included in the nutritional value, but it’s optional if you’re not a fan). Place the balls on baking paper on a baking sheet.

Step 5: Freeze 10 minutes before serving. Instead, you can just put them in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

Creating healthy keto bombs is not difficult or complicated. But consider these helpful tips for the easiest bomb recipe:

  • If the paste is too thin to roll out, put the bomb in the fridge for 30 minutes, then try to roll it out.
  • For best results, use a freshly opened jar of natural peanut butter. The fresher the peanut butter, the easier it is to mix with other ingredients.
  • If you are using monk fruit sweetener, I recommend using the powdered form of monk fruit to avoid the grainy texture. Dissolving the sugar in the heavy cream beforehand may also help.
  • You can also do the same with raw stevia and dissolve it in heavy cream.

Variations

One of the best things about fat bombs is the flexibility of the ingredients. They are so versatile and allow you to use whatever you have on hand. Check out these varieties:

  • Try using a different peanut butter. Almond butter or cashew butter are great options.
  • The recipe requires you to roll fat bombs in desiccated coconut. But try using other coating options like extra cocoa powder to give your keto truffles a spin. Or finely chopped nuts such as pecans or macadamia nuts. Or unsweetened cacao beans for double chocolate fat bombs.

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix peanut butter, cocoa powder, and hemp seeds.

    5 tablespoons of peanut butter in pieces, ¼ cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, 6 tablespoons of hemp seeds

  • Add room temperature coconut oil and mix until it becomes a paste.

    ½ cup unrefined coconut oil

  • Then add heavy cream, vanilla and stevia and mix until it becomes a paste again.

    2 tablespoons of thick cream, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 2 tablespoons raw stevia

  • Roll into balls. You should be able to make about 12 balls in total.

  • Roll the balls in coconut flakes.
